vla vla HA!

I am very happy at this moment in time. I received a copy of the recording I did with Idyllwild Arts back in August. We performed in the new Disney Hall. I must say, so far it is a pretty darn good recording! Made me want to practice... so on my lunch break I begged my coworker to lend me the old instrument I use to use while I was in school. HEHEHE.... Life is so good right now. I love my viola... ok, I love the schools viola. My viola kinda sucks ass... well, It works well for Bach... But this instrument, this BIG viola can make a dent and can compete with the best. I like big violas, well I like big things in general. ;) I miss it. I guess I know what I will be doing from now on on my lunch break.

The beginning of Appalachian Spring was pretty much flawless. I am so glad they switched the part to the first four players rather than the outside players. Aww, the beginning makes me want to cry. And the brass was pretty good... I was so biased at the time, but it came out pretty well. I'm gonna be humming the rest of the day. 'Tis a gift to be simple' is an old Shaker tune that many christians use. The version I know goes something like this:

1. I danced in the morning when the world was begun,
And I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,
And I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth;
At Bethlehem I had my birth.

Refrain:

Dance then wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he,
And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be,
and I'll lead you all in the dance said he.

2. I danced for the scribe and the pharisee,
But they would not dance and they wouldn't follow me;
I danced for the fisherman, for James and John;
They came with me and the dance went on:

Refrain...

3. I danced on the Sabbath and I cured the lame:
The holy people said it was a shame.
They whipped and they stripped and they hung me high,
And they left me there on a cross to die:

Refrain....:

4. They cut me down and I leap up high;
I am the life that'll never, never die;
I live in you if you'll live in me:
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.

...now that I have crunched my way through most of it(eating doritos), I suppose I will go back to work.
