:)
I have smiled and laughed so much today, my face hurts! The concert this evening was incredible. It was inspiring and very entertaining. I know when I go to listen to a Northridge Singers concert, I will always have a rewarding experience. Many of my friends sang in the choir. I felt proud to have been a part of that department. Lans sang beautifully! She has a one of a kind voice that has inspired me to get into singing. Great job Lans!
My absolute favorite composer is Brahms. My Mom tells a story about when I was a baby and had this pull string music box that played Brahm's Lulluby. I would pull it over and over again until I practically wore it out. Well, I am still the biggest Brahms fan alive. The piece that the choir sang tonight by Brahms was very typical....and of course it became one of my favorites for the evening.
One of the student composers wrote a sacred piece for a choir. I must say I was influenced by his other works that he had arranged and wrote. So, I was expecting the standard film music. I was completely shocked and amazed! The piece was not only well performed, but it was fucking amazing! I sat there in the audience with tears in my eyes. I could recall my memories of sitting in a cathedral in Austria. Nothing has motivated me more than the music of the church...and it still does to this day. Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison. Simple words, yet so magical the way he used them.
I needed this! Finally, a really good classical concert!
Dinner was very tasty. I had taquitos from the Cheesecake Factory. Oh man, that would be my death! I think that is my favorite food...nothing seems to top that! I enjoyed a nice glass of chianti and good company!
I do want to play viola. But I think my drive for singing has taken over! Don't get me wrong, I am not going to stop playing. In fact, I've been playing more than ever. You don't just quit something you've worked 15 years to achieve. I'm just going to dabble in a few things while I can! ;) And singing in front of an orchestra wouldnn't be all that bad, u know??
